deferred the schedule...

although i planned to re-take gmat later in this month, referring to the result of gmat prep exam today, i decided to defer the schedule to around the end of next month....

it is true that ir section and verbal section showed some improvement, but only some... it's far from desired level of gmat score.... so it's not good to remain the schedule unchanged....

at this moment, my schedule is wholly deferred... it's almost impossible to apply in the 2nd deadline timing, except for IMD...(IMD's application process is quite unique, compared with the other business school... maybe it's due to the timing of entry into the school, January... )

so i think that the peak of my application process will be around spring time...

apart from such a pathetic decision, i found the blog, whose author went through the painful 3 years to finish her gmat preparation period... at first, her score was only 490, but finally she got 700... amazing improvement she had made... i was quite astonished by her strenuous effort.... then i referred to how she made it, and i found what made her progress was that taking notes on every mistaken problems and their solutions in the flash cards... and she continued re-taking them until she got their points... also, she paid attention to timing....

For me, i think that sense of timing is much improved...  i think that it's due to getting more accustomed to the gmat's rc section, which is the hardest for me and therefore if i can improve, my timing issue is almost solved. Under the current situation, I think that i'll need to improve the recognition of what kind of points gmat wants to examine... for both rc and cr, i recognize that my approach has been better and therefore i can lead the answers with more certainty than before... so as long as i keep on practicing the questions, while reviewing the points i have learned through the books and the past questions i tried, my skill to solve gmat type questions will be improved... it's quite different from the past situation where i lost my way completely, while solving problems without any fundamental solutions...

anyway, it'll take more time to break through, but i'll have to make it...

why?

recently, as mentioned in the previous post, i've taken a job interview with a fast growing silicon valley born company... the next interview is very soon, and the next interviewer will be, actually, 2-years younger than me, and also he has an mba from Virginia..., which i got to know via a search engine with his name and some related background information...I thought that I'm very good at utilizing search engine...just joking...

knowing the younger guy with an mba, honestly speaking, i was quite shocked... i haven't experienced such an embarrassing situation, but it taught me that i'll be in an inferior situation to the guys with an mba in the near future and further... i'll experience regrettable feelings if i meet the people who will be promoted with their superior degrees like an mba...

someone mentioned that just after graduating from a business school, even a top-tier one, it's not so different from the people without an mba... however, as time goes by, chances coming to each person will come differently to the people with an mba from the people without an mba, especially, when a vacant managerial role wants a suitable person. I know that experiences through actual business decisions and actions are very important, however, it is also true that the things coming to the people with an mba can be seen distinctively... they can recognize numerous types of situations as already seen ones, as they
went through lots of case studies and practical studies in their mba course...

maybe i expect too much in a business school, but i believe that learning experiences with awesome people from all over the world will definitely broaden my perspective, as i know the things i learned so many unthinkable ways, cultures and knowledge in a multi-national company i worked before.... its diversified environment gave me chances to think the better ways for the people in a global enterprise, not the best ways for only japanese people...i think the future work place will be more diversified and globally integrated, pursuing japanese-centric way will be obsolete, or already...

so, being prepared for the unforeseeable future, i'll need more sound, standardized knowledge and skills... that's the base of my will to keep going... even if gmat prep score is still insufficient...

regards,

kenji.
